Damp Proofing Specialists in London: What We Do

Many would agree that the British climate is far from ideal and the last few years has seen an increase in rainfall, which is likely due to global warming. Endless days of damp and humid weather create the perfect environment for moisture to penetrate buildings; some areas are waterlogged and low elevations contain a lot of moisture.

London and the southeast have its fair share of damp issues – days without seeing a glimpse of the Sun is a recipe for moisture penetration – and we specialise in moisture control.

Our services

  • Damp surveys – Damp surveys are essential for those looking to purchase real estate in London; structural integrity cannot be assumed, a few coats of paint can hide timber rot, while damp can rise from the ground and climb up a structure. We offer a homebuyer damp survey that would reveal any moisture issues, plus we quote for remedial work that needs to be done. You might be selling your home due to work relocation and in such a saturated market, having a damp-free certificate is a great selling point.
  • Basement tanking – Whether under construction or an existing structure, basement tanking in London is a comprehensive sealing of walls, ceilings and floors using Sika rendering. Each layer is allowed to dry out, then a new one is applied, increasing the seal; a cost-effective way to keep the space dry, whether a car park or wine cellar, we can ensure you have zero damp and moisture problems.
  • Timber treatment – If a roof is leaking, eventually water will get into the internal roof structure, made up of timber joists and rafters that support the roof. Woodworm, wet and dry rot are very real threat, especially in a humid environment. Window and door frames can be damaged by constant condensation and in some cases, replacement is the only option.
  • Condensation – We can do a ventilation flow test and if the house lacks ventilation, we can suggest ways to generate an airflow. Heat the whole house periodically, which will dry out the air. If you would like a free condensation assessment, we are happy to take a look, plus we can quote for a solution.
  • Rising damp – Moisture that comes from the ground will climb up walls, which is why every building should have damp proof course, DPC membrane that effectively prevents damp from impacting any higher. A DPC would be no more than 150mm from the ground and it would be installed around the building to act as a moisture barrier.
  • Penetrating damp – Moisture can come from any direction, the roof and the walls can be compromised; rendering breaks down and mortar crumbles and if not addressed, penetrating damp can cause some serious damage.

We are proud of our unconditional 30-year warranty, which is a reflection of the high standards we employ; if you have damp or condensation issues, call London Damp Specialists on 020 7458 4864 during office hours and we can schedule a survey.

Be proactive regarding property maintenance, protect your investment and enjoy a healthy living environment.
